B&M lockup controller for 200r4

I have a 84 olds 98 and I got rid of the ccc carb and distributor and I have a lockup kit from b&m to install but upon reading the instructions that came with it I read that on some early computer controlled tcc trans you have to go into the valve body and remove a spring in the tcc valve train. I am assuming 1984 is a model year where u would have to do this. My question is can u get to this with just dropping the pan or would I have to take the valve body down? I have zero experience with the inner workings of an automatic trans so i might just do the wiring myself and then take it to a trans shop to have them remove that spring

That doesn't apply to your trans. You do not have the "valve body controlled lockup". The ECU provided the lockup control. There's no need to open the trans.

No, you didn't misunderstand. It just doesn't apply to your car.
