Aluminum trans cooler vs tube type

I'm planning to install a trans cooler and wondered which type is better. I'd like to install the aluminum finned type as space is tight under the hood and would like to know if one type is better than the other. Also, where does the aluminum type need to be mounted?

If space is truly tight under your hood it might be best to run a deep pan with the "cooling tubes." The only problem with this is that the pan is going to be closer to the ground than it already is.

I hope to put a seperate transmission cooler on my 71 98 someday. I plan on getting the "finned" transmission cooler. I will mount it in front of the radiator. I already have a stock deep pan on my TH 400.
