455/200r-4?

Just a quick inquiry, but will a 200R-4 bolt to a 455? The previous owner of my Cutlass has a 455R from a 1969 Toronado, as well as a "built" TH-400. I can't stand 3-Speeds, so I was wondering about a 4-Speed that bolts to a 455 Rocket. I only know of the TH-400 and the Borg-Warner Super T10(manual). I heard the 200R-4 would bolt up, is this true? I'm just looking for suggestions

It will bolt up to 455 with no problems. How long will it last is the question.
They can be built to stand up to a fair amount of abuse, but in stock form it will not last too long behind even a stock 455.

check out http://www.ckperformance.com/resourc...SMISSIONS.html, that's just one of the vendors out there that make their own parts and build 200r-4.

Yes it will bolt up, but if you want to do a 200R4 for now, and then save up for the other CK trans later, you can, just get one from a Monte Carlo SS or Grand National. The GN trans is the strongest 200R4 you can buy in stock forum

ALL Oldsmobile V8 motors from 1964-1990 have EXACTLY the same bellhousing bolt pattern (with the usual exception of the 1964 394 motors). Any trans that bolts to one of them bolts to all of them.

Nope. There's only one, but it has both the SBC and BOP patterns on it.

Three different configurations. As above there is a dual bolt pattern and this is the most common. There is also a bop only and a Chevy only. The latter two aren't near as common, but it is something to be aware of.

Ok. This is an Olds site so I doubt anyone would have assumed that a 455 was anything but an Olds but if you feel the need to call it a 455R then so be it.

That's a little confusing. GM used the letter "R" in the VIN in the late 1970s to designate the Olds 350, so some auto parts catalogs will refer to the "350R" for this reason. The 455 motors were designated by different letters and listings will often refer to those.
