The 200R4 Install
I didn't want to (further) hijack the Educate me on the 200R4 thread so I thought I'd start a new one. regarding the installation of the new 200R4 transmission to replace my tired one in my blue 1979 Calais which was installed in 2002, I'd like to say right up front, major Kudos to Extreme Automatics for their outstanding craftmanship and salesmanship with this transaction. Second to none these guys are and I highly recommend them to anyone out there contemplating getting one of these.
The performance? All I can say is Holy S...t yeah, what a wake up call. My only druthers is first gear shifts a bit too high for an Olds 260, but that's on me, that can be adjusted. It downshifts at/to a stop smooth as glass, seamless. This trans is waaaaay overkill for my 105 hp smoggger, his Stage one is rated from up to 450 hp. I can only dream of that.
Next on tap is repairing my leaking end yoke seal. I hope its nothing more than that, but you never know,
Again, a high five and 2 thumbs up for Extreme Automatics, I thank everyone on this site who recommended them. Were it not for you all, I'd not have used this shop,
THANKS!

Good to hear, Gene. I'm glad it all worked out for you. But remember, with a 260, you still can't pass anyone unless you're running downhill and you can see for at least 2 miles in front of you. HAHA.

You nailed it there, my guideline is 2 miles ahead of that 18 wheeler while getting onto the highway. Unfortunately no photos of the install.
I drove the car about 50 miles yesterday, it needs nothing. It shifts perfectly well, first gear is not winding out too high as I initially thought, I think I was just too cautious initially. After accelerating for 5 minutes I had it up to as high as 75 mph and it was solid as a rock, no more whole car shaking like with the one which was just removed. Engine is revving right where I want it, where it should be at about 1900 at 65mph. So I get to keep my 20 mph hwy mileage.
I need to get all this expensive stuff done before I retire next February and those big car projects will hit the wallet a bit harder.
Is there a 350 down the road for this car maybe? Perhaps, after I'd dead and the next owner gets it.
