200-4R Lockup During Drag Run

I haven't been able to dig up much info on subject but noticed Dr Dan mentioned it in a post recently. I have a TCS 9x11 billet converter w/ a CK billet trans. I would love to hear from some people w/ knowledge about locking the converter during a run.

1) Do you find an advantage in doing this ie does it lower e.t., help mph?

2) Do you have any comparison between Lock/Non Lock runs?

3) How risky would you consider it regarding parts breakage?
(I drive 100 miles each way to/from track)

4) Is there a general consensus on what point of run/what gear to lock it
or is this completely trial & error?

I have a CK performance 2004R Billet just like you. When I picked it up, Chris told me the only thing I couldn't do was apply WOT with the TC locked up. Mine is only set up to lock-up in 4th gear, so maybe this doesn't apply. Or maybe it does.
Be careful.

I read Dan's post as well and have the capability to lock up in any gear but have never done it at the track. I believe DR D only locks his once it hits 3rd.
I was thinking to give it a try next track trip but as with you I have a little drive to and from and don't want a tow truck involved. T&T is Thursday night, hmmmm.

Maybe it would be a good idea to disconnect the lock up switch while you are at the strip.
I don't know if locking the converter would help or hinder et, but locking up under wot would put a shock load on the transmission that might put your car on a trailer.

MX - I think you should try it every run Thursday & report Back Friday!

I'm trying to find an 11.99 without making a lot of changes to my nicely street mannered combo but the few tenths haven't magically appeared, It is apparent I am gonna have to find them. I thought this might be a place to pick up a tenth or two but not if it is risky for parts breakage.

I'm 4th only lockup w/ Bowler delay but can just wire a switch directly for the track if I want to.

Keep those cards & letters coming, it looks like a few of us seek enlightenment.

You will pick up tenths but how many depends on how much slip your converter has at the top end.
Unless you like swapping converters I wouldn't make a habit of locking it up at the top end. You will wear out the converter clutch. If you are going to do it regularly get a multidisk that is designed for it. Plus you are putting that converter clutch material through your trans as it wears.
