1965 Cutlass - Need to replace shifter, but keep console
I have a 65 Cutlass F85 w/ TH350 transmission. The original shifter needs replacing. I would like to keep the original shifter console with the tach on it...any suggestions on replacing the shifter? I purchased a Hurst Quarter Stick (being shipped) but I am concerned that the reverse lock mechanism will prevent me from using it with the original console.

I assume the original shifter lever is broken (as usual), which is why it needs to be replaced. If you just need to be able to use it with a three speed AT, you can get a conversion kit from Shiftworks.
If the shifter is broken, the G-body shifter has been used in the 64-66 console as a replacement.

Yes, the shifter is broken. I was hoping to be able to buy something like a Hurst or B&M from Summit or Jegs that someone else has had success using in the past with a stock 65 cutlass console w/ factory tach...I do not want to cut it up if I don't have to.

Check with Shiftworks in Vegas. I converted to floor shifter when I had an Art Carr overdrive installed. Art ordered a shifter from Shiftworks that has a 3/8's shaft and a choice of black or white shift ball. It works and looks great.
