pulling this toro motor

hey guys, you all know i picked up this 68 toro which im trying to get the motor out of so i can part it out to you. the motor is ready to come out, but is still trying to pull the transmission with it, i cant honestly see what would be holding it on except the flywheel hitting the bellhousing on its way out, do you happen to know of any sort of nut or bolt that is hidden really well that i might have missed? I have undone the usual bolts to pull the motor out, any info would be much appreciated, thanks!

Sometimes the trans will get seized to the engine. What I did was wedge a screwdriver in the gap and smack it with a hammer a few times.

6 engine to trans bolts and 3 torque converter bolts to flexplate....yep use a prybar to separate engine from trans and it should come out.

A prybar would be much better. I was in a junkyard when I was pulling a trans and did not have a prybar with me so the screwdriver was the next best thing.

Toro engine

If you have a good concrete pad to work on you might consider pulling the engine and trannie as a unit. I've done it both ways and think that is a little eaiser. Once I had it on the ground I could see everything and pull the engine straight away from the transmission. When I did it in the car I was fighting pulling the engine forward and into the center link steering part yet if I lifted it too high then the flywheel/torque converter was binding on the bellhousing. This was in a 1966 but I would think the 1968 is likely to be the same or very close. John

Also... did you remove the inspection cover for the flexplate/torque converter? It's hard to see the short bolts that hold it on. I believe it took a 7/16 socket and there were only 3 of the 4 bolt holes with a fastern in them, on two different cars.

yes, originally i thought that was my problem because i didnt see the bolt on the driver side right underneath the block. I got that out of the way, and from what i can tell, the flywheel looks like its binding on the bellhousing, i do have a concrete pad, ill try to pull it with the pry bar, because its all ready to go, otherwise i will try and pull the entire assembly as one unit, if i run into more trouble ill let you know! thankyou so much, im trying to get this thing out, i dont want it sitting out in the rain!
