My new Toro

It looks like I am going to pick up a 92 for $900. It needs some work but I am looking forward to getting it done. Here are some pics that were on CL

The corners of the doors are rusted, the headlight door motor is missing, and the AC is out, so I will be taking care of those things first. The things I like most about this car is the VIC and the leather interior. In theory, if I decided to flip it, I could probably get about $3500. I wont be doing that though. It is going to be my new DD.

161k. I figure that if she runs for a full year as a DD, without any major engine trouble then I basically spent $75.00 a month for a car. Once the year is up, I will look at the cost of rebuilding the drive train. I can do the engine myself, and will see what I can do about the tranny. I figure that the year will give me the time to shake out the gremlins that I have not been told about.

This is the other way I am looking at it: in 1992 the car sold new for $27,300. In today's dollars, that is $44,600. Not too shabby for $900. So while that value is not there with the Toro now, look at what 44k will buy you today. Leather seats, full power everything, Vehicle Information Center, premium sound. The list can go on and on. All the things that this Toro has.

Thanks! It is the Vehicle Information Center. It is the onscreen push button system that controls the radio, heat, vehicle diagnostics, etc. This is what it looks like:

nice toro. I love this generation trofeo seats (I have a set in my caddy brougham). kinda surprised to see the car in such good shape for the mileage. most of the ones here have disintegrated leather on the seats, lots of rust, and are just beat down.

Nice, I'm sure it will turn out to be everything you hoped it is.

Yeah, I know what you mean. It's often cheaper to fix whatever's wrong with a car like that then to buy something new since you get most of the same features.
