Wow! Original paint? That's quite a "survivor".
That appears to be a great deal. Hard to find that nice a car at any price, and that price is more than reasonable.

Yup. One of those cars you wish you hadn't seen and didn't know about. I'm just afraid the T. Rex would try to burn down the garage if another Toronado came to live there...

Question drum or disc brakes ?

No - this Toronado is no PIMP ride.
The red front bumper on my 1968 W-34 Toronado was not my choice.

If I was in the market to lookat/buy this 69 Toro, one major question I would ask (and Rocketradier can back me up on this). Has the timing gear and chain been replaced? If so with a steel unit?

With my blue 1968 W-34 Toronado, I have the gear/chain units replaced in the late spring/summer of 1995. Even with 88,000 oringnal miles, the darn timing gear looked like a tablesaw blades - no teeth left
And the Rokcet 455 NEVER JUMPED ITS TIMING!!!!!!:confuse d:

Good advice about getting that timing chain replaced, for sure. In the early '90s (for a number of years), I "raced" my '70 W-34 Toronado at Norwalk at the Olds Nationals. One year when I make it to the semis in the King of the Hill class, I hurt the motor; came off a pass running on 7 cylinders. I nursed it 35 miles home (not hard on 7 cylinders). Took off the intake and found 1 broken pushrod, and most of the rest were visibly bent. I replaced them all. Pretty sure it was from over-revving coming off the line. With out a tach, and because it was so quiet, I had a very had time feeling where I was traction-wise when the the tires broke loose. That is when I *should* have also checked he timing chain, but didn't. I was lucky, as it ran fine after I replaced the pushrods and put it back together, and I never had another problem with it. I'm guessing that the chain had already been replaced.
Oh, and I raced a few more years at Norwalk, but hooked up a tach for the event!

Was that 1970 W-34, a green car by any chance?

That is a very nice car for a very good price! If somebody buys it and wants disc brakes and chrome disc brake wheels, I will probably be parting my 69 Toro this summer.

Was you quarter-mile time in the high 14s?
Not to be a jerk, but did this Toronado get wrecked?

I'm sure it my W34 you're thinking of, but your memory is a little too kind! It ran low 15s, but it was totally stock with about 120k miles on it. Ran those times all day long and didn't mind the heat.
Yes, it was wrecked after I sold it, but it wasn't the buyer's fault. You can check it out on my webpage: http://wmachines.shubes.net/OldsWMachinesPast.html

I wonder if I can ever met Linda V. at an Oldsmobile meet?
I would like her to sign my 1969 H/O model.
