69 toro power antenna and heated back glass RARE??

Hey, I just bought some parts from a 69 toronado at a local yard. It has the rear heated glass. I didn't know they had that option. i have seen many cars with the little fan that blows air on the back window in 68 and other cars clear up to 77. Was this option rare? or common?

Also, the power antenna. I don't know if it works. I took the switch and wiring out of the car but looks like a lot of work to get the antenna out. How do you remove it?? Have to remove the farrel from the fender. How does that come off? Do you do it from the underside?

Advice and comments needed.
Thanks
Tim

Grab the switch and wiring for the window. As far as I know, 69 and up Toro went with this setup which is far superior to the simple fan. There is a relay series in the trunk for this, 3 pieces, need em. The antenna has 2 screws holding the assembly to the down side of the inner fender well. A little tight if you have big hands. Make your wife get it!

thanks for the quick reply.

How do you get the chrome oval out of the fender? The part that surrounds the antenna in the fender hole?

Should I grab the back glass too? Or are these still available?

thanks.

Are there decent front seats in this car?

There used to be a special tool that fit in the small grooves/ dents that you will see on top. That chrome piece usually gets beat up getting it off without the tool. Maybe try a very small needle nose pliers or possibly a ring clip type reverse plier, the type that spreads as you squeeze the plier handles may work, just do it slowly to try and not slip and gouge the chrome. Soak the assembly with PT Blast ahead of time and that may help. Definately get the glass, no point pulling off the rest of the system without the actual working glass. Good luck

Last winter I gave a friend a 69 Toro rear glass (with the wire rear window). Hard to find piece.

Thank you for the info. I hope to go get it out of the car tomorrow morning. Wish me luck that I can get it out without breaking it!

sorry I forgot to reply to your post. The front seat was actually gone when I found it. Did you need a complete seat or just looking for one you don't have to re-upholster?

Are all power antennas on the drivers front fender in 1969? I am parting out a 69 with power antenna on left front fender. I thought that was weird because my 68 had one on the right side.
Need any 69 parts?

69-70 power antenna was on driver's fender, manual antenna on passenger. Don't ask me why, I doubt the guy who designed it knows. Maybe they saved a foot of wire?

Toro rear glass

Are the rear windows for 66 -70 Toro, all the same dimensions? I know where I can get new heated rear windows, and want to know if the 69-70 will fit my '68.

Yes. Windshield, side glass and back glass are the same 66-70, as is Buick Riviera. I think the windshield and front side windows work on 67-70 Eldorado too, but quarter and back windows are different with its formal roofline.
