Hey all - looking at a few different cars, but one in particular would be a summer cruiser. I was originally gravitating towards a Pontiac GP, but @Olds64 in my 442 thread turned me onto this 1970 Toronado.

Love to get the Toronado experts opinion of the car (other than it is over priced) . There is a video on the listing as well.

Looks like whom ever owned this beauty has taken very good care of it. This is my favorite First generation Toronado. The color and style is one of a kind. I say go for it. You would have a car that very few have and one you dont see every day.

Having owned a 70 Toronado I have to say it was one of my favorite cars. Styling, power, handling, ride, etc. were just superb. That one is a little ratty in some respects but overall not too bad. That horn button bugs me. The original steering wheel would have been the sport steering wheel with the rim blow option. A pretty cool feature.

I noticed the foam cover on the steering wheel. That's tacky. There are leather covers that look 100x better. I also noticed that the in dash clock wasn't working. Just those two foibles should save you at least $500 off of the price. If they aren't willing to change their price then find a different Toronado. Very cool though!

This dealership is interesting as well. Thier eBay account is deactive, they have three websites with three different designs one with .net, one with .com and one with .us. haha I will give them a call today. Depending on which site you goto, you can get a better price!

I don't know where your located, but here's a 1966 Toro for $5,300. I really like the color of this one, although I'd like to see pictures under the hood. On a side note, the same seller has a 1966 Cutlass convertible, 1979 Spitfire, and 1960 Nash Metropolitan convertible for sale. So it sounds to me like an estate sale situation. John

The 70 Toro GT is a special car. One year only GT. I like that color and the body looks nice. However, $18K is steep to pay. There have been several on ebay for sale that did not sell. The horn button seems to be the cheap fix for the rim blow that does not work. Rim blow horns are hard to fix because they are rare used only a few years. I also like the clean looking Texas body. Keep in mind that this car is not a MPG champ. It is a great trip car for shows and local use but heavy and don't plan on daily use because of low MPG. There is not an easy way to improve MPG because you can't add overdrive transmissions to the FWD set up. Adding HEI will help some. You might low ball them with $11K and settle a little higher. While it is rare and nice, Toros don't seem to move fast. If they have had it a while, they might change the price. I have a listing in my newsletter for a decent 68 in Michigan for $4K with a nice looking body. Not as nice as the GT, but cheap. I am not sure where you are located for you to see the MI 68.
