Fixing '66 Toro trim rings?

Hi guys - has anyone found a way to fix / replace broken tabs on wheel trim rings? My rings are in good shape cosmetically but they are all missing one or more tabs. I'd rather not pay big bucks for rings in perfect shape, as my car is going to be a driver. Looking at the rings it seems that there might be a enough room / thickness to remove the existing tabs and rivet on new ones. What do you think? Also - what kind of steel would be best to use? I don't want these things to break every time I remove the ring from the wheel. Any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated!

Nope, nobody

I looked at that years ago. Not worth the trouble.
Get the right steel
form it right
heat treat it
attach it

Quite a project.

Maybe tack weld 'em on? Re-riveting would require dimantling [ruining] the SS ring.

There you go, used originals maybe

I had used to have some with the tabs all intact...

I hear ya guys - looks like I will try to fab up some tabs. Once they fit I will probably us some lithium grease on them so they glide and don't bind.

Has anyone found a trim ring from another vehicle or the aftermarket that fits and looks similar to the OE?
