Window Molding Clips

Hi all, I need to buy some new cllips for the chrome window molding. Problem is, the clips I pulled off the car are different from what the factory parts catalog specifies. Should I just match up what I pulled off the car, or should I purchase the correct ones per parts catalog? Do any of you remember what you pulled off your Toronado?

If by "Parts Catalog" you mean some repro parts house's catalog, do NOT assume the repro vendor is correct. These are the same people who show the plastic Chevelle cowl screen as correct for Cutlii.

I am referencing the 1972 Oldsmobile Parts and Accessories Catalog, which is why I'm confused here. Even if one of the previous owners of my car replaced some clips, I wouldn't think they'd go through the effort of replacing each and every clip with the incorrect type.

The clips you show in the first post are the exact ones I removed from my '70 442 - I would continue the search for a set of originals like you have.

Yeah, I spoke to someone that's taken a few Toronados apart and he concluded the same. Thanks for your input!

Not addressing the original poster's question but--Joe those plastic cowl screens in the Chevelle catalogs aren't even correct for Chevelles! Chevelles had no screens and those big openings were wide open to collect all sorts of debris. I believe those plastic screens were found on the Pontiac A-bodies.

Just to recap, I used the same style clip that I pulled off the car (the small ones), and they worked just fine. Thanks everyone for the replies!
