Suggest an intake manifold for 68 Toro?

Hey guys so I'm looking to get a new intake manifold for my 455 1968 Toro. The current one is very low profile and will not fit my edelbrock carb without two spacers and now I've got air cleaner hood clearance issues.

Any ideas guys?

So put a properly rebuilt and functioning QuadraJet back on it, and sell the E-broke to some punk with a SBC. Your problem is solved and you'll have a better carb to boot. Aftermarket is not always the answer.

No aftermarket or for that matter non-Toronado factory intake is going to fit without hood clearance issues. That's why the Toronado has that negative-rise intake to begin with.

Just curious Holdsteady, why won't the edleelbrock carb fit on the factory intake manifold? I was thinking of getting one, but may now have second thoughts.

Bend the tab on the linkage or cut it . Most edelbrocks throttle brackets hang low and hit the egr base this is what i have encountered on sbo's not bbo's i found cutting or bending the bracket it hits is usually what it takes .

Well...
1) factory intake
2) lose the hood

Aluminum toro intake

There is an aftermarket aluminum manifold made by Rockwell for the GMC motorhomes which share the Toronado powertrain.
Look here: http://www.appliedgmc.com/prod.itml/icOid/568
I think it has bosses for fuel injection and may flow better than stock.
I saw a slide show of the development process, if I can find it 'll post it

Development slide show, Rockwell manifold

Here is a series of slides detailing the development of the Rockwell manifold;

Please note that I have never seen one of these in person and that I have no affiliation with the manufacturer, just passing the information along..
Quadrajets are great carbs when tuned for the application and with their smaller primaries can get good mileage if you can keep you foot out of it.
