Run away from anything built in that era. They are all ticking time bombs. I was a technician at Ford dealers from then until 2008. The cars from that time were crap and they always will be.

Since it's missing the carburetor I'd pass. Especially at that price.

If you really like it, then it may be the car for you. That's for you to decide. Those cars from that era with 307s in them are fine. Just need to know how to work on them. Like anything else. Hard part is obtaining new peripheal emissions parts that are worth a crap.

Carb is CCC type, not hard to calibrate- again, if you know what you're doing. If you don't know, find someone who does. You can't just wing it. Most problems occur because people try to treat them like the pre-computer cars and just start tweaking stuff, which is a huge mistake.

Carb that came on them was 17085282 in case you were wondering. DON'T get one of those generic big box store rebuilds. They're usually crap and not even the correct number 99% of the time.

Here's one.

Pictures of the car would help.

See if there is someone willing to work on it in your area AND they have experience with the Computer Command Control (CCC) system. Absent a qualified tech to make repairs I wouldn't recommend buying that car.

Of course you should.

And then you should join the Toronado Owners Association.

And then you should join the Toronado/Aurora Chapter of the Olds Club of America.

How can you "tell" that it needs a replacement carburetor? Can the one on the car be rebuilt? Is it damaged beyond repair? Is it missing altogether?

If you insist on buying a tornado...they have a surplus in St. Louis, MO at the moment.
