Removing inside window trim

Trying to remove the painted metal trim that goes around the windows inside, 66 Toronado , any advice on just how they come out? I removed the screws but it's obviously held in some other way. Are there any hidden screws I'm missing?

The one that goes across the top of the windshield usually has had some of the windshield seal ooze down onto it holding it in place after the screws have been removed.

The piece that goes down to the "C" pillar has just the one screw at the very back & has spring clips that keep tension on the pinch weld. After removing the screw at the very back, pull straight down starting at the front being careful not to tear your headliner if you are not replacing it.

God bless

Nothing but the 4 Phillips screws! Some careful prying may be necessary.

No clips on either "A" pillar, just the 4 screws. Again, there may be a possibility some of the windshield sealer has oozed down onto the edge of them. If I get a chance I will take a picture of the backside of one so you can see how it is made.

Thanks that would be great. Bad design, the inside corner gouges/scratches the paint off the metal dash whenever the molding moves a bit 😡

Ok Sir,

Here is the best picture I could do. I put mine back on just to see how I took it off...That is the problem with having done this stuff 40+ years, I don't really pay attention how I do things to tell someone else, I just do it.

I would lift it up from the dash about 1/4 inch with something like a brake adjusting tool (or a spoon for that matter) then pry it off from the outer side first. You may also want to run a utility knife from top to bottom where it is closest to the window to cut lose any window seal stuck to it. I noticed mine did have a little on it.

Hope this helps, I am better at doing than telling!

God Bless
Bill

I just had to remove these pillar trims myself for the first time. After the 4 screws you just pry on it. I had a set of plastic interior tools that I could pry and pull on it. The trick for me was pulling evenly (top and bottom) towards me. Whenever I would pry just the bottom it would bend the top back into the windshield. After the screws they are just pressure fit or snap fit.
