i was wondering the same thing .i was sure i read that they did not start until 67.it has not had one on it since the late 80's when my brother bought it.it took me awhile to figure out why that trim wasn't on any other cars on the internet .
I'm going to clean it up when i get the brakes working and the gas tank issues solved.it will run if i fill the carb bowl with gas.is 30 psi idling cold good oil pressure on the 425?

thanks , man you have some clean cars .
1.i know i have a rust problem with the trunk.
2. the hold up right now is my rear shoes i got from rock auto don't fit the parking brake strut the cut outs are to big with no hump in the middle.they look like they are made for a longer strut .and the front spring kit looks wrong(springs too small). anybody else had a problem like this?
3.i am thinking about removing the ac compressor and hoses for a while to improve access to fuel pump manifolds ect. how should i cap the hoses too keep the system clean?black tape?

Tim,
If there is rust in the trunk have a look at the air plenum above the trunk and the hoses that run from each corner of the plenum to the trunk drops.
There should be a hard plastic tube followed by hose to route water out of the plenum. These often seem to get clogged with debris such as leaves or pine needles and lead to rust in the plenum.
I think I have fixed mine with a combination of welded patches and fiberglass, but it's not been tested yet. The welding upside down was great fun..
