Much as I hate to say it, if it hasn't run for 10-15 years? I'd keep walking especially if it has a cracked intake and possible engine damage. The body style of 78-85 Toros isn't really as appealing as the previous big cruisers IMO and IIRC they also had their fair share of electrical gremlins. There's not really a lot of demand for them if you check the markets but overall it's your call and your $$$.

I agree with Allan. A car that sat for 15 years that had issues to start with...will not be easy to bring back to life. Do your homework and make sure this is what you want to get in to. Sometimes, it's better and less expensive to find one that is running and the previous owner has maintained or restored.

$500 looks like a good deal BUT, this is one you will be upside down on real quick. I concur with the above opinions.

in that situation here's how i would think about it. price is great but i would already count on replacing the engine as to not be dissapointed. and the body/interior would have to be in really nice shape to even consider that in the first place. on top of that is it a car you desire as opposed to just a low initial entry price? and oldcutlass has a great point, when i see something that catches my eye i comparison shop to get a feel of what an already nice one costs versus your projected cost(money, sweat, and cursing included of course) and see if they are far apart enough apart to truly make it a score.. that being said, i'm sure most of us want to save em' all!

Now it sounds good
IF the rebuild was done well

Rebuilt #6 heads are probably worth 500-600 right there...
