I need some Olds expert input here....

Found these rims on ebay (search for Item #280454911625). I am wanting some SSIII's for my grocery getting/church on sunday 32K original mile survivor '73 CS. Aside from them being painted silver...is the "rim" itself correct for what I am looking for? It might just be me or the trickery of the image, but I swear these things look like what came on an '81 Monte Carlo I had. If this is in fact a correct Old's rim for my application I figure for the rim, bezels, and beauty rings this isn't a bad price. Plus they are within driving distance of me. All I would have to do is drive to get them, a little sand blasting, prime and paint and buy some lug nuts and snap on centers and I would be good to go! I don't care about correct year/date stampings on the rim. I just want to upgrade my Cutty's look with a factory optioned rim.

Here is where the Experts will chime in........

Now that I have dug out some pix of my '81 Monte Carlo to look at. The Monte had "painted" bezel accents rather than the chrome bend arounds.

Your '73 would have the used the older version of these rims with bolt-on center caps. The spoke design is similar but slightly different and the smaller center caps snap on with these '75 and up rims. These later ones are still pretty easy to find. For about $20 each, you can find correct ones (usually no caps/rings at that price though).

These are the 14x7 JJs that you need. They have a larger center cap that fits flush with the center of the rim and mount via five screws from the backside of the wheel. It will not have a raised mounting area in the center like the 1975 and up wheels with snap-on center caps have (see the center of the red wheel).

vette442 "These are the 14x7 JJs that you need."

Why do you call them JJs? Is that a stamping on the rim?

Yes, there will be a "14x7 JJ" code stamped on them.

Did all 73 Cutlasses come with 15' wheels? I would look for the 15" wheels, just fills out the wheel openings a little better.

Good luck. 15 X 7 rims with bolt in centers are a two year only item and they are as rare as hen's teeth.
