71 toronado tranny

71 toronado tranny

Hello all I am looking for info on a 71 toronado transaxle removal, whats the trick?? crossmember can't be removed, its WELDED in. Thanks

I've pulled them from 66-67 Toro's and once the engine was out it wasn't too bad. I removed the bolts that attached to the CV joints, removed the bolts that hold it to the rear crossmember..... and now I remember! It was a battle pulling it forward against the steering arm and getting the differential high enough yet pulling it forward and up at the same time. Yes it was quite a pain but with a hoist, floor jack and a 2X4 it came out. Have you located the transmission mounts on that rear crossmember? John

It is likely to be easy for you...

I did one with a small jack. Got it back in alone.

I did a couple many years ago on a 66 and I pulled the motor and tranny out together. It has been 26 years and I can't remember the details.
