66-69 Toronado MPG

Silly question, I know, but what kind of realistic gas mileage do you guys with fully loaded 66-69 Toros see? City and highway, please.

Thanks.

My gold W-34 does about 17 mpg on the highway. My silver 68 was about 10-12 in the city.
Back in the day, Dad claim 18 with the teal 68, and a friend also said his father was getting 18 mpg with is blue 1968 W-34.
Keep in mind 1966-67s have 3.21 gears and the 1968-70 crowd, is 3.07.

I had 3 '69s, one with only 30k orig mi, and they all were in the 10-12 range around town, maybe a bit better on the hwy but not much! They are heavy and guzzlers for sure, but great cars anyway. My '65 88 vert with 425 did much better on gas.

WOW! would it be that bad on a '72 as well?? (I've seen some very nice low mileage originals for sale in the Kansas City & St. Louis Missouri area...they're TEMPTING me!! )

I managed to squeeze 19mpg out of my 1970 when tuned right and taking it easy on the highway. I think in town was around 12mpg.

Wow, COOL!! GOOD job!! Encouraging to hear...'72s were significantly "De-TUned" and lower compression too so they SHOULD run just fine on Regular Unleaded; not High Test...so that will help too...Hmmmm...as I justify yet ANOTHER crazy car purchase for myself! LOL!

My '66 got 20mpg on one highway trip... surprised the heck out of me. On average, mix of highway and city, I get about 12-13mpg.

The '66 and '67 have a switch-pitch stall converter, which makes them have more initial launch, but better fuel economy in-cruise. For some bizarre reason, GM took these out of production beginning in '68.
