Smile oil pump installation

I'm ready to install my oil pump on rebuilt engine. I've heard I need to weld the pick up tube in place after setting to the right hieght. I've also heard these welds can crack, letting the pick up fall away from the pump, What do you recomend?

Its a little bit of work, but drilling a small hole in the body of the pump, then tapping it and installing a small set screw is a positive way to retain the pickup.

Thanks for the info, that would work great too. I had thought about using aircraft ss safety wire to wire the tube in place. In the end I just used my wire welder and this was after talking to a number of people. If it doesn't work ya'll will read about it here.
