Can anyone help with identifying dealership code 23-706. It was in the Oakland Ca. area is about all I can find online.
My 66 442 was sold there and is listed as Selling Dealer Code No. on protect-o-plate.

So I believe I have figured out what dealership my 442 was sold at and used dealer code 23-706.
I was going through some old photos of my car when I first bought it back in 1986. There was a shot of it from the front and you can just make out the license plate frame. It says “Petaluma, Western Motors”. This makes sense because the original owner lived in Petaluma when he bought it. I did a interweb search and there was Western Motors there in 1966. Pics also.

This was about a week after I bought it. In 1988 it was stollen and the POS dirtbags who stole it tossed the plates and and frames and installed bogus plates. Luckily they were just joyriders and I recovered the car a couple weeks later.

This I found online from 1966 in Petaluma California.


Zoomed in on plate and the frame looks pretty much the same. So I’m 99 percent sure that this is were my 442 was originally sold new and Western Motors of Petaluma was dealer code 23-706. Located at 1221 Petaluma Blvd N.
