No start
Can anyone share with me what possible could be wrong as I put the positive cable on the positive side of battery then I got a pop sound, I go to crank the car and nothing. I checked the votage and it seens to be charged.
I went back to under the hood to trace wire just in case as I had previously had to change the oil piump. So I had to jack the engine up and take the starter off. I did notice the brown wire coming from the HEI on the tach side along with another wirewith 2 wire joined together that was loose . The wires appeared to be coming from some type of connector that is mounted on the firewall.
I saw the screw still in place so I placed both of them back where I thought they went but still nothing. Please see pics Hope this was clear enough so CO member can help

Year and model ?
also the resistor (where youve attached the wires). Was likely used w points and it looks like you have an HEI.
Do you have spark? Can you tell where those wires goto? Its possible someone. Just attached wires together there to isolate them and join them together but we will need more info on whats been done to the car.

The problem could be one of a bazillion possible causes. Get a test light and Chassis Service Manual wiring diagram and figure out where the power stops. Start with any half-fast "custom" wiring like those cheesy crimp connectors.

Hey Joe you might be on to something .....my starter wire connectors needed to be replaced so I replaced them with new connectors for the R and the S side of starter ....I gues I may need to look at those to make sure thet are connected but man what was that pop sound

Update................ I replaced starter with new ( manufacture replacement) and made sure the purple wire went to the S side......the yellow went to the R side then I tighten both wires that were tied in together which connnected to resistor

Eh the low oil pressure isnt huge, unless its a fresh rebuild. Many other posters have said they have had LOP foryears w out issue.
some run a thicker oil if climate allows, as long as the LOP isnt caused by something other than normal wear., like no oil, or clogged pump etc.

Thanks for reply and I have heard the same....from alot of 350 olds owners and just in general of older engines.....so not a rebuild just oil change with thicker oill ....oil pump seem to be doing it job.....on rev ups the mechanical gauge appears to be normal....but it idles to a loping sound....car has been sitting.....so not sure if the hei distributor may need adjusting for better timing .....

Timing has been changed about 4 years ago with little to no miles driven afterwards........just recently dropped oil pan to view the oil pump and all looked well but I didnt change out pump also no shavings in oil pan

I just read this thread, and combined with the charging and starting problems in your no start thread, looks like your 69 has been the victim of some wiring buggery. Not unusual on a 52 year old car and all the more reason to get that factory service manual with wiring diagrams so you can straighten it out.
That pop you heard was an electrical load powering up. Do you have aftermarket stereo, lighting or anything running off the battery? Were the car doors open (dome lights on) when you landed the battery cable?
With HEI, at minimum that add-on ballast resistor needs to be out of the picture as it serves no purpose for HEI.
