Distributor Vacuum Control Switch

The vacuum control switch on my 1972 Cutlass Supreme 350 Auto Tranny has a black wire which leads to firewall. At that point the wire is exposed with a raw end. The best I can determine this is supposed to connect somehow to the transmission. Does anyone know if this correct and if so where is the connection point at the transmission?

I assume you are talking about the DVCS used in the Transmission Controlled Spark system. The two terminals on the top of the valve operate a solenoid vacuum valve that turns off vacuum to the distributor vacuum advance can unless the trans is in high gear. One wire provides +12v to operate the solenoid. The other runs to the connector on the side of the trans. The plug on the trans should have two wires in it, this black one and a black w/orange stripe wire that controls the kickdown solenoid in the TH400. All 1972 Oldsmobiles got these wires and plug in the harness no matter which transmission was installed
