1957 olds- fan shroud only on air condition cars?

Hi just wondering if anyone could verify if 1957 oldsmobile 88 and 98's only came with a fan shroud if they came with air conditioning. Thanks for help.

Wink Shrouded in secrecy

I didn't realize that there was a shroud until I saw one on a '56 Buick with no air in Sept. So I looked on my '57 98 and it has no air but has the holes to mount a shroud...one just sold on eBay for 168.00...

There are 5-57 olds in or club 3 are 98's to are super 88's and none have shrouds. Was this an option? I have seen several 57's at shows and none had shrouds. Mine runs cool without a shroud.

Post C.A.C. equipped vehicles only

As has been said, only those vehicles equipped with C.A.C. (car air conditioning) had the shrouds. The Olds parts book shows group 1.277, part number 570694 for the 1957 models with C.A.C.

The abbreviation C.A.C. stood for Custom Air Conditioning. This was the factory installed air conditioning. As opposed to a "hang on" unit that may have been dealer installed.

My source was the 1958 Oldsmobile Chassis Parts Book, effective January 1, 1958. On page 11, under "chassis abbreviations" (left column), C.A.C. is shown as Car Air Conditioning. When I checked the 1955, 1959, and 1965 Oldsmobile Parts Books, I found the same information.
