My car is sideways
My car is sideways
I have a 1985 Oldsmobile Regency and it is dropped from the right side, so when I park the left side of the car is higher than the right one, mainly in the back. SO, I decided to change the struts, bamm.! Changed them because they were super bad already. When they brought the car down from the ramp, it was straight, then I went for a drive and found out it was back to being sideways. Lifted it again and was straight again, when we brought it down, but after a drive, it was back to sideways. What can this be, aligning? Help Please.!!

You think I need to replace the strut mounts?
Here are 2 pictures of the two rear tires, you can see the difference in height, and it is in a leveled floor. As you can see my struts are new. If you need better view pictures of the car let me know, Ill take some later, I am currently not in my house.

Well I'd check the heights of both coils in the rear if that's where it's happening maybe one is sagging more then the other. Also I don't think alignment would affect the rear as I don't believe your car is a four wheel aligned also if you replaced the front struts then best to get those aligned as you might be wearing out your tires quicker if it's off. Also did you life the car in the proper locations as you could of tweaked the body if not lifted in the right locations. Also did you check to make sure the struts were the same height as those you pulled out? Also any wear where the struts mounted?
I'm thinking coil springs are a bit off too. They could be the orginal springs.
I believe that in 85, the 98 was a soild rear axle car, but unibody construction, so you do not really have a frame, you have frame "rails" if they are tweeked, you'd know it.
Look at the top of the "A" pillar and "C" pillar, see if they have a small little dent in them at the top, also if the doors are really hard to open only on one side, the frame rails are tweeked, but I really don't think that's your problem

It can be any one of a number of things!! Basically it usually is spring related. A weak coil in the front right will raise the left rear. So what you need to do is measure all four corners to determine where the car is sagging.
The struts are a version of a shock absorber with a spring built on them. It's the spring that determines the car height.

I usually replace the coil and the strut mounts when i do the struts, costs more but you don't have to go back and tear into it again (usually, lol
) Most cars you can get the "fully loaded" strut, much safer/quicker to put in. Hope you find whats causing the problem
