I was curious if anyone knows if there is a company out there that makes a lowering kit for a 1983 delta 88.
I cant afford something like airbags. So something cheap is preferred.

They make a few. I guess it depends on what you want to use it for and how low you want to go. I lowered mine quite far and it looked great. But it handled like crap as it was on the bumpstops in the front.

 

Actually, anything for the same-year Caprice is a bolt-in.

 

Shouldn't anything from a 1977-1996 GM B-body work.

 

Of course, but if he searches for a kit for an 83 Caprice, all those 77-96 kits will show up. Many sites require you to supply a specific year.

 

Actually most kits are targetted at the 91-96 Caprice/Impala and most totally ignore the 77-90 models. Een though they are for the most part the same. Some of the later heavier duty cars had bigger balljoints, and the A-arms and spindles were different.

I have Eibach Springs on it now. And Boss 18X9 wheels with 275/40-18 BFG G-Force Sports all around. Here is a good source of info from another site I am on for B-Body stuff. Hope it helps.

The D88 is NOT a G-body.

 

NO!!! Really??? Im asking if the susp is the same if the drop spingle thats desighned for the cutlass will work on my D88 I assume the answer is a YES.

 

No the G-body spindles are different. I have heard of guys with G and F bodies doing a B-body spindle swap but never the other way around.

 

So the only options I have is drop springs??? I wouldnt think the 85 cutlass and 85 delta spindle would be different..............

They are very different. The B-body ones are taller.

You have a B-body car right? So you post has everything to do with B-body spindles cause wait Guess what G-body spindles DON"T FIT. They are different cars.

Yes any B-body stuff works. The Eibach can settle uneven. And I am hearing Moog have the same problem. But that is the best way to lower our cars. You can cut the stock ones but you can go to low. I had mine on he stops just where it looked where I wanted it. But I had to raise it back up using the Eibachs. The handling on the stops was just crap.Funny enough it rode well, just didn't corner the way it should.

 

Let's try this one more time. Your Delta 88 IS a B-body. Use the B-body parts.

 

Thanks guys............Looking at some other thread and stickman comments, looks like after install of the lowering springs on these cars its hard to notice a major difference in drop and ride is changed negatively.

Looks like im sticking with stockers; I want that dropped look but looks like it will be hard to attain with aftermarket springs.

Ill just be switching my shocks all 4 to KYB's soon

 

I wouldn't say it's not niticeable. Here is a before and after shot. But before it settled. The tire diameter is right about the same. Darn it posted the wrong before pic. Here is the correct one.

I also here KYB's are not the best. I here Bilsteins mentioned more.

 

I too have tinkered with the suspension on my Holiday...

I didn't go down though. Although, I have heard and seen positive experiences with guys running 94-96 Impala SS's which are the same suspensions.

I have Heavy Duty Diesel Springs in the front, Cargo Coils in the rear, nice large sway bars, new ball joints and control arm bushings. I also have load assist front and heavy duty rear shocks.

My goal wasn't go down any, but rather to keep the stock look of the car and making the handling much tighter than before.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. I don't believe I will ever lower my car.

 

what do you gain by putting the B-body spindles on G-body cars? i'm looking into dropping my 80 regal but not having too much luck finding anything that really does the job.

i've found 2" springs and also drop spindles, but if i did springs and spindles up front how would i get my rear end down level with the front? sorry to throw in another question there.

 

If you mount B-body spindles on a G-body it just allows you to have better suspension geometry. I understand the suspension Geometry is not that great. It doesn't do anything to effect the height though.

 

Right now until Aug 31 there is a 10% rebate from Eibach for buying their springs.
