Rally suspension?

Did the Cutlass Supreme in '73 have a Rally Suspension as an option? Not to believe everything I read on the net, but I saw someone post and claim on a site that thier '73 Cutlass Cupreme that they had purchased new had a 455 with "Rally Suspension". Any truth to that?

Good question. I don't have much experience with 73-77s but if you could get a 455/400 and the Hurst package on those cars, I would expect them to have the FE2 suspension for handling. Doesn't sound too far fetched to me. I've seen much later models of Cutlass offer the rallye suspension handling packge, so it seems plausible. You'll have to take it a step farther to the Olds Mythbusters .......

Yes, the FE2 suspension package was an available option and was included with the 442 package.

Rats! One thing is a rear sway bar that I just sold last week

I know the 1970-72 FE2 suspension was different springs (shorter & stiffer?) a rear sway bar, and I believe a slightly larger diameter front sway bar. I would suspect, but don't know for sure that the 1973-77 was similar in differences.

Any 1973-77 Cutlasss/442 or the Chev, Buick, Pont models that were built on the same platform would have these items. Years ago I had a 1977 Delta 88 pace car and am pretty sure it had the same rear bar. John

Far as I know, it is boxed control arms, axle braces, HD shocks and springs, 1" front and rear sway bars.

The sway bars on the 73=77 models are different from the 68-72 models, so make sure you get the right one.

It's interesting to know that GM still uses those same codes for suspensions on todays cars, for example: the Caddy CTS has FE1, FE2, and FE3 as choices for it's ride and handling options.

I don't know specifically about '73 A-bodies, but generally speaking FE2 "Rallye Suspension" was a ride-and-handling package as opposed to F41, which was a heavy-duty suspension option. While FE2 was included with the performance packages, either option was usually available seperately.
