Hey guys! So i got the spindle into the ball joints on my 64 dynammic and a freind says the upper ball joint dosent seem quite right. He thinks the gap is a little big between the control arm and the spindle. I think its because the ball joint boot is not filled with grease yet and is flat. It all the way on the taper and the pin can be put through the castle nut perfectly.
I paid $135 for 2 uppers
Have you torqued the nuts yet? Neither have I ever owned a 64 Dynamic or serviced ball joints on a 64 Dynamic, but it looks to me you haven't achieved the final torque values, yet. Is it torqued to spec. If not, by the time they are "properly" torqued, the gap should draw up significantly (assuming you have the correct ball joints).
If they are the same length (correct) ball joints (they do sell extended length [shaft]) ball joints, you should be fine when they're torqued.
NOTE: When torquing a castle nut if you can't get the cotter key (pin) to align at the specified torque value, turn the castle nut to the next available alignment hole (position). Don't back off the nut to a previous hole - go to the next hole.
