Manual Steering Column for Automatic

I bought a tilt steering column that supposedly came from a 69 Cutlass. When it arrived, I noticed a lever on the side. A web search told me that this is a key release lever for an automatic. My question is, can this tilt column fit a 69 cutlass with floor shift automatic? Is there any difference or alterations needed?

The only GM vehicles I know of that used that release lever were Vega/Astre, T, and H-body cars. Some Chryslers that used Saginaw columns had them too.

You were sold a misrepresented column, intentionally or not.

That's not a 1969 Olds column.

The 'Y' body cars used that style also.
