Trying to Identify Steering Gear Box

1970 Cutlass Supreme with PS. I removed the gear box to rebuild as the car had been sitting for years and I also don't want to damage the new pump I also bought. When I removed the box, I noticed it was only held on by 3 bolts but the box is the 4 bolt mounting type and there was no hole in the frame for the 4th bolt. Would that indicate someone may have changed the box at some point? I know in other threads, some of you have said it is better to just replace than rebuild 50 year old technology. If the box is original to the car, I'd like to keep it and rebuild it. If not, I would lean toward replacement.

Is there a part number somewhere on the box that i could reference that would help tell me if it is the original?

Thanks.

The original box had four bolt holes. I believe that was to provide the option which three holes to use in different applications.

Thanks.

Here are the numbers on the top of the box.

Got the box taken apart. It appears to be a Saginaw 808. When I turn the sector shaft by hand 360 degrees, should it feel consistently smooth all the way around or should there be a point where there is slight pressure then releases to smooth again? Just wondering if the previous owner messed with that adjustment at some point.

The Saginaw power steering box was used in a multitude of different vehicles, including Ford, Chrysler, AMC, and even foreign cars. Only three of the four mounting bolt holes are typically used in any of these applications.

Joe, ran into an issue rebuilding the box. My spool
valve appears to be held onto the stub shaft with a coil spring. Not sure what that is supposed to do or if I even need it but it is causing me to not be able to re-install the spool valve.

Have any suggestions?

Thanks.
