Some suspension questions early 80's B body

I've had good success with KYB shocks on my 2000 GMC k3500. For my '84 LeSabre, I'm looking into the KYB Gas-A-Just model KG5507 (rear) and KG4515 (front) along with MOOG CC621 rear variable rate springs. I noticed that KYB makes model KG5504 which looks like it's for the Custom Cruiser. Given that I'd be going with variable rate springs, would it make sense (if the bolt pattern is the same) to go with the wagon shocks? I'm wondering if the variable rate springs would stretch out the standard sedan shocks.

Another question is, are the front springs encapsulated on the shock, or can the shock be removed from under the knuckle without touching the spring. I'm not sure I want to tackle the front springs without having any type of compression tool unless absolutely necessary. I can't really tell from the design of the shock on online photos. My suspension setup is original to 1984 as far as I can tell (lost the receipts! )

You can replace the shocks without disassembling the lower control arms and springs,
