Has anybody tried the QA1 adjustable coilover conversion on their car yet? I've got a 68 Cutlass that I've been considering for proper stance and improved handling. They do seem kinda spendy but I think it would also clean up a lot under the car also.

 

check out Vicking coil overs too.

 

I put them in my ride is still in progress but everything fit nicely. I will see some day when it is done

 

i've got them on the front of my 71. The adjustability is great and the coilovers helped tighten up everything as far as handling and stiffness

 

Had Eibach springs up front, got tired of bashing headers and some front wheel rub. Had the QA1's installed up front they cured the prob,ride is great(far from stock) new front ride height looks awesome . Hopefully I'll do the rears next summer.

 

I have also been looking at the Viking setup $1,099 seems not too bad for all 4 corners with springs and adjustabilty.

Anyone running the Viking and have feedback on how they are?

QA1's up front with tubular control arms. I need to raise mine up a little as it has settled and is rubbing, but overall I like them alot.

Looks good, do you notice a difference in handling? Looks like the steering and sway bar is all stock except poly bushings? Similar to my setup but I plan to retain the stock control arms already installed all new poly bushings and all moog joints in mine. Also all new steering other than the gear.

 

Viking and QA1 are both in Lakeville, MN. Coincidence? No, Viking was started by former QA1 employees. They saw an opportunity to make a few changes and run with them, so they did. No idea if they are better, but a friend of mine sells both of them their design software, so I know they have the same capabilities. Its just a matter of how they apply their knowledge. QA1s are mostly (easily) rebuildable. Not sure about Viking.

What is the spring load applied to at the top?


The bottom appears to run thru the shock body and that one smallish crossways bolt.

I have QA1 coilovers and upper/lower tubler control arms on the front of my 71 Cutlass Supreme!
Made a Big difference in ride and handling! My setup is similar to what NHolds shows in his reply! Not only can you adjust ride height, you can firm up your ride as desired! Plus with the tubler arms, you have a better dial in rate for your caster/camber! Especially if your run 50 series tires! Cost was cheaper to replace then rebuilding the old stock stuff! Highly Recommended!
