Installing front Hotchkis coil springs (1901)
Installing front Hotchkis coil springs (1901)
For anyone that has installed Hotchkis front coil springs on a bare frame with no weight on top... what method did you use? Spring compressor? Strap/chain over method?
I put a strap around the control arms and locked the ends together after adjustment and with the floor jack inside the loop...be very careful about things being straight and not slipping...I found that to be awkward to use so then I tried a long 1/2 inch (or whatever fits through the shock hole ? 5/16?) threaded rod with a flat bar across the lower end and some kind of washer arrangement on top and just wound the nut down on top and found that to be easier and more to my liking and safer too...(this rod goes through the shock hole from top to bottom)
Hi oldzy,
I installed Eibach 1" drop coil springs on my bare frame...
I installed 2 spring compressors, but havent the "room" for 2, so i did go with 1 compressor, clamped the frame to the car lift and took some help from the bottom with the car jack....
If this discription is a little curious, i hope the pictures will help!!
