I have a 1985 delta 88. Trying to take on the front driver side shock but the nut just keeps spinning. What do I do?!?!

 

There are various tools available that will hold the nut and turn the shaft so the shock can be removed.

 

This is very common. The top of the shock rod should have two flat sides allowing a small wrench to hold the shaft still as you use another wrench to turn the nut.

Whatever you do, don't put any grease on those threads before installation. Life might be easier later for someone. [/sarcasm]

I just put front shocks into the Vette frame last night, used silicone grease on the rubber to metal areas and greased the threads.

 

It may not matter. I used liberal application of anti-seize when I put the new front shocks in my wife's 1985 D88 about two years ago and still had to torch one off when I did the front suspension this spring. And I do have the proper GM shock tool.

FYI, with the upper control arms off, it's MUCH easier to access those shock nuts.
