Front Springs
Hey all.
I have a 69 Cutlass vert. It seems that whenever some previous owner put in a 455 to the car. They used old or original springs. The car is sitting a little lower in the front end. I dont mind this but, the springs have an added spacer on each side. So since it is already sitting a little lower, whats the chance of the spacers popping out and the car bottoming out?
If so what would you suggest for springs to have about a 1.5-2 inch lower stance

Detroit Eaton is a legit company and will sell you any type of spring you want lifting lowering or stock. Eveyone has differnt taste as far as ride height. If you dont know what you want how should someone else know! If you are happy with the way your car sits now buy nothing.

I just got a set of 2" lowering springs from a place called www.JamcoSuspension.com They can build factory springs or your choice I believe of 1", 2", or 3" lowering springs for any vehicle.

I put the Hotchkis TVS on my 78 Pro-Touring Camaro and hundreds of people I know have used their kits and springs.
They are VERY beefy coils VS stock coils.

In re to the Hotchkis 1" springs (as used in the Hotchkis TVS)... Hotchkis says 1" lower from stock... however... is that 1" lower from say a basic Cutlass/Olds... OR... the 442? IIRC, the 442 had 1" lower springs than the basic Cutlass/Olds, which would mean the Hotchkis springs are likely a 2" drop.
I have a complete new TVS kit that I was going to use, but changed my mind. However, if the springs and matching Bilstein shocks (HPS1000) are decent riding w/o too much drop (I don't want it too low where the top of the tire is not even visible), I might just use those out the TVS kit instead, and sell the rest. I will be using 15" tires with like 225/60/15's or something and Olds' rallyes.
Otherwise, I will just get MOOG springs for a 442 + Bilstein shocks, and paint them GM shock gray.
I don't auto-x at all. 99% street with the rest being at the drag strip perhaps a few times a year. I figured the TVS kit might be overkill for a grocery gettng '72 Cutlass Supreme w/o fancy rimz/tirez. Maybe just me, but I don't think Oldsmobiles (in particular Cutlass Supreme's) look good with fancy rimz/tirez.... I think the Olds Rallyes look the best. Just MO of course though.
