Do lowering springs require different length shocks?

My car is falling apart faster than I can restomod it. One of my 17 yr old Edelbrock IAS shocks blew a seal and lost its oil. Man, there’s a LOT of oil in those suckers! They were awesome shocks, but no longer manufactured. At some point I plan to change the rake by dropping the front an inch or two with different springs. Question is.....if I change the shocks now, will I have to get different shocks for the front when I lower it? Don’t want to buy shocks twice.

Looking at your profile picture, your front is pretty low now. Look at how much of the shocks shaft is sticking out now, subtract the amount your going to lower and see how much would remain.

Oldcutlass, you make a good point. I see a lot of pics on here where I think the car almost looks raised. I have original 51 yr old springs all the way around. They are all probably sagging like crazy. I wonder what height off the ground the body was when new. All I know is that when I’m done, I want the rake to be raised a little in the rear. Lots of ways to get there.

Post some side shots of your car when you get a chance. As far as the stock height, someone with 67 service manuals will need to chime in. BTW min is lifted 2+ inches all the way around.
