Camber when lifted?

Please excuse some ignorance here. First time restoring a classic car and some things are hard to google. Figured I’d post my question here.

I put my 66 F-85 up on a jack stands to have the frame and floor pans sandblasted. This is the first time I’m getting the front end up off the ground. I took the wheels off and noticed that the suspension looks odd now that there’s nothing touching the ground. It looks to me like the camber is off. I’ll attach a pic. You can see the drums are both angled in relation to the ground. Is this the normal condition for the front suspension?

Thanks!

This is normal. Camber is measured with the full weight of the car on the ground.

This is the correct amount of camber. Our classic Oldsmobiles can't do it though. The rear tires on a Cutlass are too wide, and you'd never get the J78s of a Delta 88 or 98 to do that unless you lifted the front off the ground.

runt, Don't feel embarrassed or reluctant to ask questions on this site. I'd suggest you make classicoldsmobile your first stop for information because there is giant amount of accurate collective knowledge already in the database and within the gray matter of the members. The information provided is almost always accurate and when it isn't someone will chime in and make it correct. Some other sites may not be so accurate, this site is about members that are passionate and focused upon enjoying Oldsmobiles.

Very well said. We have so many members with accurate knowledge and first hand experience that any mis-information is readily corrected.
