C4 front suspension in a 56

Was talking with a guy today that owned a 56 Pontiac Safari wagon. I was asking how he lowered the car since it has the same frame as my 56 Olds. He installed a C4 cradle from a 87 Vette. The sit perfect and he says it handles very well and tracks smooth. I was wondering if anyone besides me has either done this or has researched the swap?

Eric is right, I have done it in my 47, and it's still not quite finished, but I think it's going to work well. Check your pm, I answered a bit more there.

I will take a bunch of measurements and if the frame width is pretty close I may take on this project this winter.

I did this on a C2 Vette with the addition of the C4 suspension in the rear. It was a project for a guy that was trying to build a pro-touring project. He has yet to mount the body on it yet.

Yeah, I'm not exactly at the body mounting stage yet, either!

I'd be curious to know what wheels will work.

Yeah, me too! Actually, the bolt pattern is the same as just about any other rear wheel drive Chevy. I have a nice set of Chevy rally wheels in 15x7 that go right on, but they just barely hit the calipers. I could probably shave a tad off them, but don't really like that idea. I would like to find a nice set of stock 16" rear wheel drive wheels, but that is down the road a little, so I'm not going to worry about it just yet. I know I can get aftermarket wheels that fit if it comes to that.
