'69 442 Upper Control Arm Seals

Any recommended sources for the rubber seal/drape that is stapled to the inner fender well and partially covers the upper control arm?

Looking for the seals on both sides, the attaching staples and any related advice.

Thanks in advance.

Inline Tube's wheelwell seals are nice and made of the correct material. The seals sold by The Parts Place ARE NOT the correct material so avoid theirs if that matters to you.

The manufacturers of the nice seals (REM) that Inline sells still don't seem to include enough staples in the package. I called them years ago and told them they should put more in there so folks could have as many as originally used. I don't think they cared enough to increase the number of staples (although they did send me some extras at no charge which was nice).

You think MAYBE they (REM) would have checked some used wells to see how many the factory used but that requires effort....ha ha. (Starting to remind me of the repro SSII wheel cap center "rocket" stickers the repro places sell....apparently something else somebody didn't check/research either before making them...ugggh).

Still - they are nice seals and correct. Maybe Inline has extra staples they will sell or throw in...worth asking about.

If you need an exact count on how many staples are in the wells I can provide that based on some originals I have here close by.

Thank you! A staple count would be great, the car is 1,200 miles away at the moment.

I'd get at least 12 staples per well....the count can vary slightly. Get 15 per well just to be "safe".

Carefully remove the old staples as most of them can be reused.
Let me attempt to put this into words...

You will need to install the staples through the same holes in the wells and transfer the original locations to the new rubber.
So figure out how to replicate/transfer the well holes to the new rubber.

If you have the old A Arm seals use them as templates.
Or lay the new rubber over the wells and push the staples through the opposite direction to imprint into the new rubber. Then pull the staples and install in the correct direction.
Or use some thin sharp metal device to mimic the staples. Make the holes then install the staples.

Sometimes I will use a drill with a very small bit to make the pilot holes in the rubber. This method works well with plastic & steel wheel wells.
You'll need several types of pliers, needle nose vice grips, a hammer and body dolly or similar. Or two similar sized hammers to make the staples lay down nice.

Its much easier to install the seals with the wells out of the car. If the well lip bolts come out nice, wheel well removal is simple.

Patton is correct on the supplied staple count; I bought the REM flaps from Inline tube and needed 25% more staples than they supplied. The good news is I called REM and they sent me more at no charge; the bad news is the staples were brittle and many broke when pinching them. To install the new seals/flaps I taped the flaps to the fender liners with blue painters tape and ran a small drill bit thru the original holes using the fender liner as a template. I used a hammer and small dolly to pinch them down.
