64 Cutlass steering column swap-what else fits?
Hey all, Here's the question, is there a steering column out of something else GM that will work on our 64 Cutlass? I'm specifically thinking either the 1964-65 Pontiac Grand Prix or a 63-65 Buick Riviera. The car currently has a column shift, non tilt in it--but we would like to go either floor shift tilt or column shift tilt!--Thanks for your help!

Or does anyone have a 64-65 Cutlass tilt column they would like to sell? Also, Is the assumption correct that any 64-65 GM A-body column would work? IE: Skylark, Tempest, Chevelle, etc--Thanks!

64-66 A-body is the only thing that will bolt right in BOP are the same and Chevelle is slightly different but still works. If you want a factory tilt good luck they are rare and expensive.
I see you are in Dallas. Any pics of the 64 You are building?

I do not know how to post them-But I do have photos! We just finished all new tubular front arms and tubular rear control arms and new springs , new big sway bars and power front disc conversion. We put later olds rally llls (15x7) w/ TA radials-man it handles like a go-kart! I think we are going to do the Jeep GC steering box conversion-still need to cut the rear springs to drop the rear about 1". It has the original 330 in it but we swapped in a turbo 350. I took the car today to get a new windshield installed, and the rear window taken out and resealed--but, after removing the old windshield it revealed some rust in the lower channel--and since I don't like mickey mousing things--I'm going to order the new USA replacement channel from OPGI, yank the dash, then weld the new channel in and install new clips for the trim--so I took a $225. project for the new windshield and rear glass reinstall, and turned it into $500! Then, when I got (drove) the car home, The linkage was binding and wouldnt let me put the car from R to park--so I used a little more pressure and-----Bang! broke the shifter handle right off! Just went over to my buddys and welded it back together so tomorrow I can reinstall and see if it will go into park!--Fun, fun!
