Help please with brackets and pullys

Hello to all. I have a problem and desperately need help. I have a 72 olds cutlass with a 350. Pulled the engine and transmission out for complete overhaul. While engine was at machine shop a tree fell in my barn and crushed it. Because of this my meticulous origination of brackets pullys bolts and spacers have been lost. I need to know how the brackets go, what bolts I need to buy. It's a 72, without a/c. Please help I am so lost and frustrated!

Briansteinke@outlook.com. I really do appreciate any help I can get. After all the money spent on this thing from all the engine part from mondello. To finally be ready to get the engine back in and can't find any bolts or spaces due to the tree. Just really frustrated, going at this whole project by myself.

It's all clearly diagrammed in the Assembly Manual.

Welcome to ClassicOlds.

Does anybody know there I can get a diagram or something that shows what goes where. Everything I can find is different than mine. Don't know if they are wrong year or what.

Here you go. This will need to be in three separate posts.

Sorry, I've only got the 1971 Assembly Manual.

Think I figured out part of my problem. But how to fix it?

Thank you so much for the diagrams. They clarified that my p/s pump and brackets are not the same. So I started googling p/s pumps and brackets for different years. Found a pump and brackets off of a 76 olds 350 that looked exactly the same. But the car is 72, so is the engine (numbers matched). So I have some random bolts and some home maid spacers, 3 of them. But nothing seems to be working. I will post pictures tomorrow of what I've got. Any suggestions.

The '76 P/S pump brackets should be the same as the '72.

The two spacers have to be the correct thicknesses - I created a thread listing their dimensions, which you should be able to find by searching.

Spacer sizes are specified, with the caveat that "small" and "large" refer to the OD, not the length...

to facilitate future finding of the image the word bracket is added with 2 of each letter

Pics of brackets

Posting pics is not working. But I have a 2 piece bracket not 3. There is only one hole in the part that bolts to the side of the block. All the diagrams show 2 holes and it is bolted to the other brackets. Mine is not bolted, it is part of the bracket

That would be something other than a stock 1972 setup then
either beat your photo posting issue into submission or purchase a known correct setup complete I guess. I saw several at the swap meet. I know where I have one handy. complete pump with pulley or as little as you need to buy.

Looks stock to me
except for the slotted lower motor mount area hole. The 398669 brace to the xst manifold bolt is missing.

Using the above diagram and appropriate spacers, it should go right in place. Watch that thick 3/8 washer spacer on the pump to front bracket. It's the same as an intake washer.

If it is stock for 72 then why is the diagram completely different. And why are my spacers not the same size as the diagram? They all show a 3 piece bracket. Mine is 2. Not trying to say your wrong just want to make this work.

I agree that these look like stock brackets, though it's hard to see 100% because of the shadows, and I'm not sure what you mean by saying that they don't look like the brackets in the diagrams - they look like them to me.
Maybe you need to take them off of the pump, so that you can compare them each separately.

if your spacers do not match the sizes I measured and posted above then you need to fix that. without the proper spacers you have no chance for success. You can make 'em or buy 'em, but you cannot just make do with "some" spacers.

Your '669 BRACE to the exhaust manifold is missing so you have two of the three illustrated. That you "can" do without but why not just get one and install it?

Again, at the swap meet, I saw several complete setups, and I know where one is on one of my parts cars, so they are available complete. Have you perused epay at all? Often for a reasonable cost the entire pump/ bracket assembly is available.

Of course, he could have a car with A/C, and use the upper alternator bracket instead of the '669 brace...

So I am missing a peice and that's why they don't look the same. All I need it to get that other peice, make some spacers and and find bolts with studs.

If you consider ALL the fasteners, there is a LOT to know about PS pump mounting.

Have most if not all of it rounded up now.

Usually I just supply the two spacers and maybe the one boltstud.
