Bolt size for olds 350
Bolt size for olds 350
I'm in the process of installing the motor on a 72 cutlass and I'm missing the water pump, flywheel, intake , and the bolts that connect the engine to the transmission. Would anyone know size etc. or a place where I can order new ones
Should be 3/8" standard thread (9/16" socket size), 1 1/2" long.
The original bolts have a short shoulder, about 1/4"-3/8" long before the thread starts.
When I've got one apart, unless I'm doing a resto,
I replace original bolts with stainless ones for neatness and to reduce rusting.

In any case, the easiest thing to do is to grab these bolts off a car in a wrecking yard. They will be the same on just about any Olds motor (including the 307). This is about the only way you'll get the special bolt/stud fasteners used on the water pump to attach the accessory brackets. Flexplate bolts are high strength and should be available from the performance vendors. You can get stainless fasteners in a kit from Totally Stainless.
