Two barrel carb draining?

Morning all! My 70 F85 has the two barrel carb on it. After driving it and parking it in the garage, it has a very strong smell of gas. It disapates after an hour or so. I love the smell of gas, wife hates it. Do these two barrel carbs have a well like the Quadrajets, that should be epoxied closed? It is not leaking on the outside of the carb anywhere. I rebuilt it about 7 years ago?
Thanks
Tom

The fuel pump is likely bad.

There are LOTS of places where gas fumes can escape.

Starting from the back:
  • Gas Cap
  • Crack between filler neck and tank
  • Rust pinholes in top of tank
  • Porous rubber hoses - tank to body
  • Rust pinholes in steel lines
  • Rotted / disconnected hoses or components of evaporative emission system
  • Porous rubber hoses - body to engine
  • Leaky float bowl (I had one that dripped from the throttle shaft - never bothered to take it apart and figure out why)
There are no leaky well plugs like on the EARLY ('66-'67) Q-Jets.

In fact, about the only thing I can think of that wouldn't cause this problem is the fuel pump.
