type of oil

Which type of oil to use in 215? and can i use synthetic oil?

You should use any oil that has the proper levels of ZDDP. There are many threads on here you can read pertaining to this subject, search oil or ZDDP. I don't like the synthetics for older higher mileage engines because inherently it will find places to leak.

Modern oils do not generally have ZDDP. Put in a container of STP Oil Treatment every time you change the oil.

To be honest, I've been using Castrol GTX 10W-40 from WalMart in my 62 for three years now with no problems. I've put about 8,000 miles on it during that time. This particular 215 had been rebuilt by a friend of mine and used in his 62 for several years before I got it (his now has a Jetfire motor) so I don't really know how many miles are on it.
