1967 oldsmobile engine color and air cleaner color

My engine at the moment is gold, however I was reading some where that it is possible that it could be red? It's a 1967 330 I was just wondering what color it's supposed to be and where you can by the matching color engine paint if gold. Also what color was the air cleaner? Mine is black at the moment and I would like to paint them close to what they were produced as.
Thanks for all your help!

The 330 engine is supposed to be gold. The air cleaner could be black or red. It's black if the engine came in a Vista Cruiser, Cutlass, or F-85, and the engine had a 9.0-to-1 compression ratio.

The air cleaner was red if the 330 came in a Delmont 88, and 330 engines in Delmonts had a 10.25-to-1 compression ratio.

You don't say what car you have, but if it's a Cutlass, it sounds like the colors you have are correct...gold for the engine, black for the air cleaner.

Well you did not say what model your car is. All 330's though were gold to my knowledge. The low compression engines had black air cleaners and the HC had a red orange color. Spray paint is available from Fusick among others.

Jaunty beat me to it....

I agree with Oldsmaniac, there was a high compression 330 in the Cutlass-models available, too. I used the POR15 engine enamel on my 330, you can see how it looks in my thread.
The link to it is in my signature!

As for the air cleaner color, Rustoleum makes a "Satin Paprika" that almost exactly matches the original red from the factory, if that is what you are looking for. It's actually 1/2 way between red and orange, red being far to dark.

Give it a try.
Good luck.
