Carb suggestions?

I recently purchase a 72 cutlass with a 4 barrel 350.....i jus got a tune up and oil change, well the mechanic suggested a new carb. I've heard so many opinions. All I want to do is buy a reliable carb to cruise with. What do you guys suggest for a reliable cruiser?

If you have your original quadrajet I'd stick with that and have it rebuilt.

The edelbrock 1405 or 1406 will be reliable runners year after year. They have been reliable for me i have run them for the last 6 years with no issues.

I have had 4 edelbrocks. 2 1405's and a 650 avs and a 750. The 1405 worked the best out the box for me. All i had to do was set the fast idle and it ran perfect. I later further tuned it to gain some quicker 1/4 mile e.t.'s and mph.
