dating the engine

dating the engine

bought a 69 cutlass 350.new to the olds thing. how or where can i check year or numbers on engine to see if original and if not what year thanks in advance

Welcome to the site 69bluerocket! Here's a link to an old thread with photos of different castings and stamped number locations. What you need to look for is the vin stamped into the block, drivers side below the #1 cylinder. If you have power steering the pump will be in the way, but with a good flashlight and mirror you still should be able to see it. It's right under the number cast into the head which should be a 5 if your engine is a 1969. Let me know if you have any trouble finding this. John
