Fuel Pressure 1970 Cutlass Sumpreme 350

This weekend I got around to installing a Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, Holley 670 Street Avenger, new Carter Muscle car fuel pump and fram inline fuel filter.

When I first fired up the car the fuel pressure was very low almost non existent according to the fuel pressure gauge. It stayed like this all day when I was driving around town.

The next day I fire up the car and checked the fuel pressure gauge and its reading about 5 psi. Could I have a faulty fuel pressure gauge, clogged fuel lines, bad fuel pump?

Thanks,

5 psi sounds about right. If your pressure was non existent the car wouldn't run. I'd keep an eye on it and see what happens. It may have been stuck from sitting and just took a bit for it to free up.

So today i fired up the cutlass and now the fuel pressure guage is reading 3 psi. Any suggestions on what might be causing the sporatic fuel pressure.

thanks,

If the car is running fine, I'd stop looking at the gauge.

x2 with mdchanic. I had a pressure gauge bounce between 5 and 10 all day long but the fuel bowl levels stayed the same drove fine so i left it alone.

I ended up changing the fuel filter and now fuel pressure is reading 6.5 psi all day.
